Since 1994, the AIDS Funding Collaborative (AFC) has been the leading public/private partnership focused on the HIV effort in Cuyahoga County. In one of its largest grant categories, the AFC awarded over $250,000 in grants in October. Six organizations will utilize these funds to support HIV/AIDS-related services and prevention programming.

AFC responsive grants were awarded to agencies that submitted proposals in response to the AFC’s request for applications, following a letter of intent process. The priorities for this round of grants were: HIV care and support services; HIV prevention, including harm reduction; capacity building; and community-led and neighborhood-based HIV programming focused on zip codes and networks in greatest need.

2022 AFC Grantees

The AFC awarded $252,079 in 2022 responsive grants:

• LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland: Q-You program for LGBTQ+ youth, $52,079

• Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio: Ensuring access to HIV testing, prevention, and education in Cuyahoga County, $50,000 • Serenity Health and Wellness with Ginn Foundation as fiscal sponsor: HIV education and outreach project, $50,000

• University Settlement: Conducting HIV/AIDS capacity building in Slavic Village, $20,000

• Ursuline Piazza: Educating and supporting people living with HIV to live better, healthier lives, $30,000

• We Think 4 a Change: Get in Care, Stay in Care, Thrive in Care program, $50,000

The AFC awards grants, both large and small, in a variety of different categories including annual responsive grants; small discretionary grants for sponsorships or short-term projects; grants by invitation that are targeted to urgent or unmet needs; and a category of mid-range grants called catalyst grants, designed to support innovative and intensive HIV-related efforts in specific neighborhoods and networks that face the highest rates of HIV. The AFC is a public/private partnership designed to strengthen the community’s response to HIV/AIDS by providing coordination, leadership, advocacy and funding in Greater Cleveland. We believe that every person living with HIV and every person at risk of HIV can be informed, empowered and connected to the services and supports that they might need.

The AFC’s funding partners are: The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County, The City of Cleveland, The Cleveland Foundation, Cuyahoga County, The George Gund Foundation and Mt. Sinai Health Foundation. The Center for Community Solutions is the fiscal home of the AFC. Learn more about our strategic priorities at www.AIDSFundingCollaborative.org.
