Effective January 1, 2024, the AIDS Funding Collaborative (AFC) transitioned its Advisory Committee leadership by welcoming Amy Main Morgenstern as Chair and Brian Kimball as Vice Chair for two-year terms.

Morgenstern, President of Main Stream Enterprises and 2023 recipient of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) Distinguished Service Award, has served as board representative to the AFC for the Mt. Sinai Health Foundation since 2019.

Kimball, Assistant Director of Health for the Cleveland Department of Public Health and 2019 Kresge Foundation Emerging Leader in Public Health, has served as staff representative for the City of Cleveland to the AFC since 2021. He has been the Vice Chair of the AFC since 2022.

Throughout its nearly 30-year history, the AFC has led a public/private partnership of funders and grantees to strengthen the community’s response to end the HIV epidemic in Cuyahoga County. The AFC’s funding partners are: The Cleveland Foundation, The George Gund Foundation, Mt. Sinai Health Foundation, The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County, The City of Cleveland, and Cuyahoga County.

"We have continued as a funding partner of the AIDS Funding Collaborative for so many years, not only because of its communitywide coordinated and data driven approach to meeting the needs of Clevelanders living with HIV/AIDS, but also because of the Collaborative's focus on preventing the spread of the disease," said Mt. Sinai President Mitchell Balk. "We congratulate and thank Mt. Sinai Director Amy Main Morgenstern for taking on the role of Board Chair of this critical community leadership body."

Through collective grantmaking, over $13 million has been mobilized to address urgent and unmet needs and to support HIV-related efforts in specific neighborhoods and networks that face the highest rates of HIV. The AFC strengthens the community’s response to HIV/AIDS by providing coordination, leadership, advocacy and funding in Cuyahoga County.  The Center for Community Solutions is the fiscal home of the AFC.
